This photo is a tribute to one of my best friends, who has stayed by my side for as far back as I can to remember, almost every very funny story I have begins with the words, "Devon and I" He wrote this poem a while back, and without his knowing I set out on a three week photo journey to find the perfect picture to go along with it. This is his Tribute.

My phone awakens me at 3 AM and I peer outside.
The clouds have barely been graced by the beautiful sun,
and the lights about the broken pavement of my city,

burn bright as day.



I shuffle out of bed and grab some covering,
stumble drunkenly out of my door and onto the sidewalk.
I reach into my pocket, and pull out some cancer,

and press it to my lips.



As I wait I look up to the sky,
Grey clouds begin to appear as you sleep.
Their presence caresses the asphalt sweetly,

as if you touch it yourself.



Bending over backwards for you
only taught me how to break my back easily.
At least I still have the wings you gave me

to stand back upright.



As the dawn breaks and the sun arises,
The clouds break above our best intentions.
The pavement shudders beneath my feet,

and the rain pours down.



I watch the buildings covered in tears,
and I think of your face when we parted ways.

You had me at "Hello,"
And I had you at "Goodbye."
